The Virginia-born and Nashville-based multi platinum singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist transforms complicated feelings, uneasy thoughts, and self-doubt into arrestingly catchy alternative anthems anchored by relatable and raw emotion. Throughout the last decade, Matt has documented life’s twists and turns on tape. In 2019, he struck a chord and made history with his first LP, Bank on the Funeral.
The album’s two Platinum-certified singles—“Cringe” and “Hallucinogenics” [feat. Lana Del Rey]—each climbed to #1 at Alternative, elevating him as “the first ever male solo artist to log two #1 Alternative hits from a full-length debut LP.” On its heels, 2022’s Never Had To Leave incited critical acclaim from American Songwriter, Consequence of Sound, and more. Frustrated and confused, Matt wrestles with leaving it all behind only to dust himself off and exhale a mantra-like chant through a haze of strings, “Grit your teeth and make us proud.
